What to Watch February 2022

The country's in winter storm mode, so it's a perfect time to plan what to watch this month while you're snuggled up at home cradling a hot drink and a remote control!

As always, I've compiled a list of shows I want to see that drop soon, and I'm sharing it here along with links to everything coming to those streaming services so you can pick your own must-watch viewing. Most of what I've collected is on streaming, but a few shows can be found on good old-fashioned network TV. And away we go! 

What to Watch December 2021

Santa's not the only one delivering gifts this December; streaming services have a sackful of goodies, too! I'm looking forward to the third and final season of Lost in Space on Netflix, And Just Like That ... and Station Eleven (based on the outstanding book) on HBO Max, Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett on Disney Plus, and much more!

Revisiting Sharky's Machine

Ever harbor fond memories of a film you saw as a kid, then watch it again as an adult? Do that at your own peril, pal. Turns out you really can’t go home again, so to speak, but you might have fun trying.

Awhile back my husband and I sat down to watch Sharky’s Machine, a 1981 gritty crime thriller starring and directed by Burt Reynolds. We both originally watched it when we were too young to fully get it, possibly on HBO or cable. We couldn’t recall the where of it, only that we remembered Sharky as a badass with a cool name.

On our adult viewing, it looked a bit different. It’s hard to define – it wasn't good but not entirely bad, either; you could tell it was trying for something, a style, a mood, an artsy feel. As my husband put it afterwards, “I wouldn’t exactly call it good; it’s ambitious. It’s bizarre and trippy and very ’70s.” (Even though it came out in 1981, the lingering mist of the '70s was very much alive, especially in this film.)

Big Little Lies returns in June, Nine Perfect Strangers coming to Hulu

Liane Moriarty can't stop winning. Season two of the HBO must-see series Big Little Lies (based on  her bestselling book) begins on June 9, while her latest bestseller, Nine Perfect Strangers, just got the greenlight at Hulu. Nicole Kidman will produce and star.
